Te mapa
Matai is the administrative centre of Kalambo District in Tanzania's Rukwa Region, on the high plateau in the country's far south-west. The town is small and spread out, with a few main roads meeting at its centre and houses and plots strung along them. The surrounding country is rolling upland, mostly farmland, crossed by tracks leading to villages.
To the west the plateau drops steeply toward Lake Tanganyika, and the district is named after the Kalambo River, which forms part of the border with Zambia. The river's falls, among the tallest single-drop waterfalls in Africa, lie within the wider district. The town itself stays calm and rural, built at a crossing of regional roads.
A Matai map poster is mostly open space, with a loose cluster of streets at its centre and long roads reaching toward the edges. That lightness is the point: it records a highland place where the land matters more than the built grid.
Matai's streets gather where regional roads meet, forming a small, loose knot in the middle of the poster rather than a dense grid.
Rolling plateau country surrounds the town, marked by a scattering of tracks and plots that leave much of the frame calm and open.
Routes lead west toward the edge of the plateau, where the land falls toward Lake Tanganyika and the Kalambo River valley.

Koteā ko Matai
A Matai map is a personal choice, often for someone from Rukwa or someone who has worked in south-western Tanzania. The open, minimal layout suits a wall where you want quiet rather than detail.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a name, a year or a short note. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. A free 900 px preview lets you check the frame before buying.
