Te mapa
Matehuala lies on the open Altiplano of northern San Luis Potosí, a dry upland where towns form tight blocks and the land around them stays empty. From above, the centre is a regular colonial grid around its main squares. The streets are laid out in straight lines, and the land beyond them turns quickly into scrub, dry watercourses and long, straight roads.
The town is best known as the gateway to Real de Catorce, the old silver-mining village up in the mountains to the west. It is also known for its large neo-Gothic parish church, which faces the central plaza and is often said to be modelled on a church in Lyon. The federal highway between San Luis Potosí and Monterrey passes the town, and that route has long made Matehuala a stopping point.
A Matehuala map poster shows a town built for a harsh landscape. The old grid is dense and orderly. Newer districts spread outward along the highways in looser patterns. Around the edges the lines thin out into dirt tracks and field boundaries, which gives the composition a clear centre and a very open frame.

The main highway between San Luis Potosí and Monterrey passes the town. Its long, straight line cuts across the plain and anchors the edge of the map.
Beyond the built-up area, dry creek beds and rural tracks fade into the open plateau. That emptiness lets the town's grid stand out sharply.

Koteā ko Matehuala
For many people Matehuala is the last stop before the road climbs to Real de Catorce, or it is simply the town where family roots are. A poster of it marks a real crossroads of the north, a place people remember passing through or growing up in.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a year or a route, and the coordinates line. The five styles are Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand in particular suits the desert setting.
