Te mapa
Mehtar Lām is the capital of Laghman Province, east of Kabul, in a fertile valley ringed by mountains. Two rivers, the Alingar and the Alishing, come down from the north and meet near the town before flowing on toward the Kabul River. The valley between them is some of the most cultivated land in the region.
From above, the town is a cluster of streets and compounds along the main road. Walled plots, orchards and fields stretch outward between irrigation channels. The rivers split into several channels across wide gravel beds, and the mountains rise steeply at the edges, so the farmed land forms a clear corridor on the map.
The town takes its name from a shrine that local tradition links to Mehtar Lam, identified with Lamech, the father of Noah. A Mehtar Lām map poster shows the shrine town in its river setting. The meeting rivers and dense farmland make a composition that is both geographic and personal.
The Alingar and Alishing rivers approach from the north and join near the town, giving the map two strong flowing lines that meet in the valley.
Orchards, walled gardens and fields fill the space between the rivers, crossed by channels that create a fine, irregular pattern around the town.
Steep ground rises on either side of the valley, so the built-up areas stop sharply and leave wide blank space at the edges of the poster.

Koteā ko Mehtar Lām
For families from Laghman, many of whom now live far away, an accurate map of the home valley can mean a great deal. It is also a striking design in its own right, with the rivers and farmland giving it movement.
Write the title and subtitle in your own words, perhaps a family name or a year, and adjust the coordinates line. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room where it will hang.
