Shweli River bends
The river loops through the valley in broad curves near the border. It adds soft, flowing lines to the more angular street pattern of the town.

Te mapa
Mengmao is the urban core of Ruili, in the far west of Yunnan province, on China's border with Myanmar. On a map the town spreads across a broad, flat valley floor. The river winds nearby and the border runs close to the streets, with the Burmese town of Muse just across.
The layout is shaped by commerce and crossings. The main roads lead toward border points and market districts, and the grid is dense where trade is concentrated. The valley is framed by hills on both sides, and the river loops across the plain in wide bends visible from any distance.
A Mengmao map poster records one of the best-known crossing points on this border, long associated with the jade trade and cross-border markets. In black and white, the river, the valley and the edge of the country give the design an unusual, layered structure.
The river loops through the valley in broad curves near the border. It adds soft, flowing lines to the more angular street pattern of the town.
Streets and roads run close to the boundary with Myanmar, with the neighbouring town across it. It is a rare map where two countries meet within one frame.
The town sits on a flat valley floor enclosed by hills. That gives the poster a clear centre and a natural frame of quieter terrain around it.

Koteā ko Mengmao
Mengmao means something particular to traders, travellers and families who have lived along the Yunnan border. A map poster keeps the shape of that frontier town in view long after a visit or a move.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with the year you first crossed or a family name. Then choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to set the tone.
