Te mapa
Milazzo lies on the northern coast of Sicily, west of Messina, where a narrow peninsula runs north into the Tyrrhenian Sea. The town fills the base of that peninsula, with the harbour on the eastern side and beaches along the western bay. From above, the land narrows sharply into the Capo di Milazzo, a thin finger of land ending in cliffs and a lighthouse.
The castle sits on a rise above the old town, one of the largest fortified complexes in Sicily, developed over several centuries. In 1860 the Battle of Milazzo was a key episode in Garibaldi's campaign. Today the port is the main departure point for ferries and hydrofoils to the Aeolian Islands, visible offshore on clear days.
A Milazzo map poster is shaped by the sea on three sides. The dense streets gather at the base of the peninsula, the harbour breakwaters reach into the water, and the cape runs north as a single road through open ground. It is a strong coastal composition, clear at a glance and rich in detail around the port and the castle.

The large castle complex rises above the old town, with its walls tracing an irregular outline among the streets below.
Milazzo's harbour serves ferries to the Aeolian Islands, and its breakwaters and quays form clean geometric shapes on the eastern shore.

Milazzo is a place many people remember as the start of an island holiday, and others as home. The peninsula makes a distinctive print that reads well even at the smallest size.
