Mingshui is a county town in Heilongjiang, China's northernmost province, and lies within the Suihua region. It sits on the Songnen plain, a vast lowland of black soil that is among the country's major farming areas. From above, the land is almost perfectly flat, and the town is an island of streets in a wide sea of fields.
