Mislata lies directly west of Valencia, and on the map there is no visible break between the two. The municipality covers a very small area, and with a population of over forty thousand it is one of the most densely populated towns in Spain. Its streets form an almost continuous fabric of apartment blocks.
The northern side of the town lies near the old course of the Turia, the river that was diverted after the 1957 Valencia flood and whose former bed became a long linear park. To the south and west, the dense blocks meet main roads, rail infrastructure and the fields of the Valencian huerta beyond.
