Te mapa
Misterbianco lies just west of Catania on the southern slopes of Mount Etna. Its history is closely tied to the volcano: in 1669 a major eruption sent lava flowing down towards the coast, and the original town was destroyed. It was rebuilt nearby, and today it forms part of the continuous built-up area around Catania, well known in the region for its large shopping centres.
From above, Misterbianco shows several layers. The older centre has a compact street pattern around its main church and square. Around it spread newer residential districts, road junctions and the large commercial zones along the main routes into Catania. Old lava fields, citrus groves and the rising ground towards Etna fill the edges.
A Misterbianco map poster shows how a Sicilian town sits within reach of an active volcano and a major city at the same time. The dense centre, the ring of modern development and the fragments of countryside make a varied, layered composition. The 1669 eruption is part of why the town sits exactly where it does today.

The ground rises towards the volcano to the north. Old lava flows and farmland break up the built-up area on that side.
Large retail areas line the main roads towards Catania, showing as wide blocks and car parks next to the finer residential streets.

For people from the Catania area, Misterbianco is part of everyday life, and a map of it recalls family homes, the town square and the volcano on the horizon. It suits anyone with Sicilian roots who wants a less obvious place on the wall.
