Te mapa
Myrnohrad is a town in Donetsk Oblast, in eastern Ukraine, directly east of Pokrovsk. It grew as a coal-mining town in the twentieth century and was known as Dymytrov until 2016, when it was renamed under Ukraine's decommunisation laws. Mining shaped both its economy and its layout.
On the map, the town has the planned feel of a Soviet-era mining settlement, with straight streets, residential blocks and large industrial areas around the mines. Spoil heaps, the conical waste hills typical of the Donbas, rise on the outskirts. Around the town, the land opens into steppe and farmland crossed by railways and roads.
Since 2024 the town has been close to the front line of the war, and it has suffered heavy damage. A Myrnohrad map poster records the town's streets as they were drawn, a way for residents and former residents to keep home in view.

Waste heaps from decades of mining stand on the town's edges, landmarks of the Donbas that appear as distinct shapes on the surrounding land.
Myrnohrad lies immediately east of Pokrovsk, and roads and rail lines connect the two, forming one of the main urban areas in western Donetsk Oblast.
