Te mapa
Nagasu is a town in Kumamoto Prefecture, on the western coast of Kyushu, facing the Ariake Sea. The sea here is known for its very large tidal range, which exposes wide mudflats at low tide. On the map, the coastline is straight and engineered, with reclaimed land and seawalls marking the boundary between the town and the water.
The town is compact, with residential streets, farmland and industrial sites all within a short distance. A large shipyard occupies part of the waterfront, and its long docks and buildings form strong geometric shapes on the map. Across the sea lies the Shimabara Peninsula, connected by ferry.
A Nagasu map poster shows a small town where industry, farming and the sea meet. Nagasu is also known across Japan for goldfish breeding, a tradition that has shaped its identity. Many small breeding ponds appear on the map as neat rectangles among the fields.
