Te mapa
Nan is the capital of Nan province in northern Thailand, set in a green valley near the Lao border. The Nan River runs along the eastern side of the town, and on the map it forms a long, gentle curve that defines the edge of the old centre.
The historic core preserves parts of its old walls and a scatter of Buddhist temples. The best known is Wat Phumin, famous for its cruciform hall and murals depicting local life in the nineteenth century. These sites sit within a compact grid of streets that is easy to explore on foot.
A Nan map poster captures the town's measured scale. The river gives the composition a clear boundary, the remains of the walled town add a subtle rectangular frame, and newer streets spread outwards into farmland and towards the surrounding hills. It is a quiet image that reflects the unhurried character many visitors associate with the town.
The river curves along the eastern side of town, a strong, flowing line that contrasts with the straighter streets of the centre.
Traces of the old town walls outline a compact historic core, where temples including Wat Phumin sit among regular blocks of streets.
Beyond the built-up area, rice fields and roads run towards the hills, giving the outer map a looser, open structure framed by the valley.

Koteā ko Nan
Travellers who have spent time in Nan often remember it as one of northern Thailand's calmest towns, and a map is an elegant way to hold on to that trip. The river and old core make a balanced image.
