Te mapa
Neuquén stands where the Limay and Neuquén rivers join to form the Río Negro. On a map the city occupies the wedge of flat land between them. Its long, regular grid runs from the riverbanks up to the bardas, the steep edges of the Patagonian plateau to the north. Across the water lies Cipolletti, and bridges link the two cities.
As the capital of Neuquén Province, the city grew quickly through the twentieth century. It is now closely tied to the energy industry, especially the Vaca Muerta shale formation. The irrigated valley around it is known for its fruit orchards, and the plateau beyond is dry, open land.
A Neuquén map poster is defined by water and topography. Two rivers frame the south and east, and wooded islands and channels follow their banks. The grid ends abruptly where the land rises to the plateau, so the image has clear edges on every side, which suits a minimalist print.
The Limay and Neuquén rivers meet just east of the centre to form the Río Negro. Their braided channels and islands make a striking shape at the corner of the map.
Downtown streets follow a strict, regular grid laid across the flat land. Diagonal avenues and the old rail corridor cut across it.
North of the city the plateau rises in a steep cliff. The streets stop where the land climbs, which gives the map a firm upper edge and a sense of the dry country beyond.

Koteā ko Neuquén
Neuquén draws people from all over Argentina, many of them for work in energy or in the valley's farms. A map of the city they came to, framed by its two rivers, marks that move and the place that grew out of it.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a neighbourhood or year, and a coordinates line. Then pick from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand works well with the arid Patagonian palette.
