Te mapa
Nobres is a municipality in Mato Grosso, north of the state capital Cuiabá, in the transition zone between the cerrado and the southern edge of the Amazon basin. On a map, the town is a regular grid of streets beside the main highway. Around it lie farmland, ranch roads and a landscape shaped by limestone ridges and rivers.
The region is best known for its unusually clear rivers and springs, where the limestone geology filters the water. That has made Nobres a destination for ecotourism, with visitors floating and snorkelling alongside fish in transparent pools. The same limestone supports local quarrying and cement production, which also shapes the economy of the area.
A Nobres map poster captures both sides of the place. The tidy town grid forms a clear centre, the highway provides a strong axis, and the rivers wind through the surrounding country in fine, meandering lines. It is a map of a small town in a large, open landscape defined by water and stone.
The urban area is laid out in regular blocks. Seen from above, it is an orderly rectangle of streets that stands out against the natural terrain around it.
Rivers and springs fed through limestone make the region famous. On a monochrome map their winding courses cross the open countryside in delicate, organic lines.
A main road runs past the town and links it to Cuiabá and the north of the state. It is the strongest straight line in the composition.
