Te mapa
Novovoronezh was founded in the late 1950s on the left bank of the Don River, south of Voronezh, to serve the construction of what became the Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant, one of the earliest in the Soviet Union. Built from scratch for a single purpose, the town has the tidy, deliberate layout typical of planned Soviet settlements.
From above, the town is compact and orderly, with residential districts arranged in large blocks of apartment buildings separated by green courtyards and wide streets. Pine forest surrounds much of the town, leaving a soft wooded margin on the map, while the power station and its industrial zone sit at a distance along the river.
A Novovoronezh map poster shows a town whose shape explains its history at a glance. The Don curves nearby, the forest frames the housing, and the separation between home and plant is written clearly into the plan. It is a distinctive document of mid-century planning in the Russian heartland.
Apartment districts are laid out in regular groups with shared courtyards, producing a calm, repeating pattern that reads clearly in black and white.
The river flows past the town in broad curves, adding a large natural shape that contrasts with the geometric order of the streets.
Pine woodland wraps around much of the town, leaving an open margin on the map that sets the compact settlement apart from the landscape.
