Te mapa
Oku lies high in the Bamenda Highlands of Cameroon's North-West Region, on the flanks of Mount Oku. This is the second-highest mountain in the country. On a map, the settlement is not a compact grid. Roads and tracks follow the contours, bending around ridges and spurs, and homesteads spread across the green slopes instead of gathering around a single centre.
Above the town is Lake Oku, a crater lake surrounded by montane forest. The Kilum-Ijim forest on the mountain is one of the largest remaining areas of highland forest in the region and is known for rare birds. Oku is also the seat of a traditional fondom, and the area is well known for its white honey, which has protected geographical status.
An Oku map poster shows a place shaped by its terrain. The street network is sparse and organic, and the lines of roads trace the mountain itself. In black and white, the result is quiet and almost topographic. It is a very different image from the dense city grids that usually appear on map posters.
The roads wind along the mountainside and bend with each ridge, so the map reads like a sketch of the landscape's folds.
The crater lake sits high on the mountain above the settlement. It is a rounded, still shape set apart from the scattered lines of the town.
There is no single dense core. Homesteads and quarters spread across the slopes and give the map an open, rural rhythm.

Koteā ko Oku
Oku means a lot to people from the Bamenda Highlands and to those who have walked its forests or stood beside its lake. A map of its winding roads is a calm and personal reminder of home and of high ground.
You can add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, such as a family name or the year you left or returned. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
