Te mapa
Omigawa was a town in northern Chiba Prefecture until 2006, when it merged with neighbouring municipalities to form the city of Katori. It is on the south bank of the Tone River, one of Japan's largest rivers, which here forms the boundary with Ibaraki Prefecture. The land is flat and low, and it has been shaped by water.
On a map the area divides into two distinct textures. Near the river, the floodplain is covered by a fine grid of rice paddies, drainage channels and embankments. Further back, settlements gather along roads at the foot of low terraces, with shrines, temples and wooded patches mixed into the older village pattern.
The JR Narita Line runs through the area, and Omigawa Station remains a local point of reference. An Omigawa map poster shows a quiet corner of the Kantō plain, where the broad sweep of the river and the patient geometry of the fields define everything else, and where the town's name still lives on.
The wide river runs along the northern edge of the area, a broad band of water with embankments on both sides that forms the strongest line on the map.
The floodplain is divided into regular rectangular paddies crossed by channels and farm roads, a fine, repetitive pattern that prints especially well at large sizes.
Older settlements line the roads where the flat land meets low terraces. Their streets are irregular and close-set compared with the open grid of the fields.

Koteā ko Omigawa
Omigawa no longer exists as a separate town, but the name remains in the station, in local addresses and in people's memories. A map is a natural way to hold on to a place whose official identity has changed.
Use the title for Omigawa and the subtitle for Katori or a family date, and keep the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, then download the $9 HD files or order a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
