Te mapa
Tsuchiura sits at the western tip of Lake Kasumigaura, the second-largest lake in Japan. From above, the city’s edge is set by water: the built-up area spreads back from the shoreline, and the Sakura River runs through town before it empties into the lake. Beyond the streets, the low ground turns into a grid of flooded fields.
Those fields are lotus-root paddies, and the area around Kasumigaura is one of the country’s leading producers of renkon. Tsuchiura also hosts a national fireworks competition every autumn, one of Japan’s best-known displays. Remains of Tsuchiura Castle are preserved in a park near the centre, and the research city of Tsukuba lies just to the west.
A Tsuchiura map poster sets the fine street pattern of the station area and the old castle town against the open surface of the lake. The shoreline is irregular and scalloped, the river cuts cleanly through the city, and the rectangular paddies at the edges add a quiet texture. The Joban Line runs through on its way to Tokyo.
The lake takes up the eastern side of the frame as one large, open shape. Its uneven shoreline forms a soft boundary against the dense streets of the city.
Low-lying land near the lake is divided into rectangular ponds where renkon is grown. They form a grid that looks almost woven next to the streets.
The area around the Tsuchiura Castle remains keeps the finer, older lane pattern of a former castle town, a short walk from the modern station district.

Koteā ko Tsuchiura
Tsuchiura is a place people remember for its lake and its autumn skies full of fireworks. A map captures that setting in a form that suits a small Japanese apartment as well as a larger room.
Add a title, a subtitle such as the date of a fireworks night, and a coordinates line. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint shows the lake as a strong blue-free field.
