Te mapa
Kamagaya sits in northwestern Chiba Prefecture, on the flat Shimōsa plateau east of Tokyo. It is a compact city, and on a map its territory is filled with a fine, irregular mesh of residential streets, broken by patches of farmland and small woods. Several rail lines cut across it in long straight strokes, giving the dense pattern a clear structure.
The lines converge at Shin-Kamagaya, where the Hokuso Line, the Shin-Keisei Line and the Tobu Urban Park Line meet, making the station an important transfer point for commuters heading into Tokyo and Chiba. The streets around it are the busiest part of the city, while quieter neighbourhoods spread outward with small parks and schools between them.
Kamagaya is also known across the region for its Japanese pears, grown in orchards that still appear as open plots among the houses. A Kamagaya map poster shows that mix of railway geometry, suburban lanes and farmland, a subtle but characteristic portrait of the outer Tokyo commuter belt.
Three railway lines meet at Shin-Kamagaya station, their tracks crossing near the heart of the city and forming the strongest set of lines on the map.
Narrow, winding streets fill most of the city, typical of Japanese suburbs that grew from older farm roads, and they create a dense, fine-grained texture in black and white.
Pear orchards and vegetable plots remain scattered between neighbourhoods, leaving small open spaces in the street pattern that give the poster rhythm and breathing room.

Koteā ko Kamagaya
For commuters who changed trains at Shin-Kamagaya every day, or families who picked pears here in late summer, the city's map is a personal and very specific piece of home. Its dense texture looks particularly good in a larger print.
