Te mapa
Ondangwa is in the Oshana Region of north-central Namibia, on the broad, level plain of former Ovamboland. The land is almost perfectly flat and threaded with oshanas. These are shallow seasonal channels that fill with water after good rains and dry to pale pans at other times. On a map they appear as soft, irregular shapes between roads and homesteads.
The town grew up as a commercial centre on the B1 highway, which runs through it toward Oshakati and the Angolan border. An airport sits beside the town. The northern railway, extended from Tsumeb in the 2000s, reached Ondangwa and continued north, adding another long straight line to the map.
Just outside town is Olukonda, the site of the region's first Finnish mission station, which is now a museum. An Ondangwa map poster shows a town built on crossroads. Its highway, runway and rail line are laid over the pale, open floodplain of the north.

The shallow drainage channels of the floodplain wind between built-up areas. They give the map irregular organic forms that contrast with the straight lines of the roads.
A runway and the northern railway extension add two more strong geometric lines. They mark Ondangwa as one of the main transport points of the northern regions.

Koteā ko Ondangwa
Ondangwa is where many people from the north pass through, trade, study or start out. A poster of its flat, wide-open layout is a quiet reminder of home for anyone who now lives in Windhoek or overseas.
You can change the title, add a subtitle and edit the coordinates line. Five styles are available: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand is a natural fit for the pale northern plain.
