Orimattila is a town in Finland's Päijät-Häme region, south of Lahti. It lies in one of the country's more open agricultural landscapes. On the map, the town centre is compact and orderly, a river valley runs through the area, and wide stretches of farmland spread out around the settlement. Wooded ridges and scattered villages fill the rest of the frame.
The layout reflects a typical Finnish market town. Its small grid-like centre has a few main streets, and residential areas with low houses and gardens grow outward. Roads head north to Lahti and south toward the coast.
