Te mapa
Paraíso lies on the Gulf of Mexico in northern Tabasco, and the water shapes its map. The town sits a short distance inland from a long, straight sandy shore. Around it, the coastal plain is broken up by lagoons, estuaries and marsh, and the roads follow the few strips of dry ground between them.
To the east is the Mecoacán lagoon, a broad, irregular body of water with an edge of mangroves and small inlets. Along the coast, the port of Dos Bocas serves the offshore oil industry. Next to it, the large Olmeca refinery opened in the early 2020s, adding a dense block of tanks and plant roads beside the sea.
The town itself is compact, with a central square and a loose grid of streets that fades into palm groves and wetlands. A Paraíso map poster shows the uneasy balance of this coast, with small-town streets on one side and big industrial infrastructure on the other, all held between lagoon and shoreline.
A wide coastal lagoon with ragged edges and mangrove channels lies east of town. It fills a large part of the map with an organic, open shape.
A long, almost straight beach runs along the Gulf of Mexico. It draws a strong horizontal line that separates the land from the empty sea.
The industrial port and refinery sit right on the coast. Their breakwaters, basins and tank fields create a compact geometric pattern.

Koteā ko Paraiso
For people from Tabasco, Paraíso means beaches, lagoon seafood and the changing story of the oil coast. A map of it records the town at a particular moment, with its old grid and its new industry side by side on the same shoreline.
