Te mapa
Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco, sits on low, flat ground where rivers meet, and water is everywhere on its map. The Grijalva River runs along the eastern side of the historic centre, and the Carrizal curves around the west. Lagoons of various sizes lie between the neighbourhoods, and their irregular shores break up the street grid in unexpected places.
The city's best-known cultural site is the Parque-Museo La Venta. Colossal Olmec heads and other sculptures, moved from the archaeological site of La Venta, stand among trees beside the Laguna de las Ilusiones. The poet Carlos Pellicer created the park in the late 1950s, and its paths form a quiet pocket of green between the lagoon and the surrounding avenues.
The low terrain has left the city open to flooding, most severely in 2007, and embankments now line long stretches of the rivers. Villahermosa is also a centre of the oil industry in the Gulf region. A Villahermosa map poster shows how thoroughly water runs through the city, with the street grid bending and breaking wherever a river or lagoon gets in the way.
The river runs past the old centre in a wide, gentle curve. Several bridges cross it, and a riverside promenade runs along its bank.
This large, irregular lagoon lies in the northern part of the city. Its winding shoreline wraps around small peninsulas and the grounds of the La Venta park.
Between the rivers, the oldest streets form a compact grid of blocks around the main plaza. This is the city's densest and most regular section.

Koteā ko Villahermosa
Villahermosa's rivers and lagoons give its map an unusual, almost liquid shape, which makes for a poster unlike most city plans. It suits Tabasqueños far from home and anyone with ties to the city. Personalise the title and subtitle, and add the coordinates of a street or a family home.
There are five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits a city of water. Download the $9 HD files in six print sizes, or order a printed poster on matte paper from partners in more than 30 countries.
