Pijnacker lies in South Holland, in the green strip between Delft, Rotterdam and Zoetermeer, and together with Nootdorp forms a single municipality. The map is typical of the Dutch polder: straight ditches and drainage canals divide the land into long narrow strips, and the town's streets follow the same directions.
