Te mapa
Pionki lies in Mazovia, northeast of Radom, on the edge of the Kozienice Forest. From above, the town looks like a clearing. Residential streets and housing blocks sit in a compact area, and forest presses in on almost every side. Roads leave the town in a few directions and quickly disappear among the trees.
The town grew around a large explosives and gunpowder plant set up in the interwar period, later known under the name Pronit. That industrial beginning shaped the layout. It has workers' housing, factory grounds and a practical street plan, not the market square found in older Polish towns. Much of the site still shows on the map as a separate block of land at the edge of town.
A Pionki map poster uses the forest as its frame. The built area makes a tight pattern of short streets and housing estates, and the woodland around it stays mostly blank. Forest tracks and a railway line run through the trees in thin threads. It is a quiet, graphic image of a town shaped by industry and hemmed in by trees.
Large stretches of pine forest surround the town. On the poster they read as calm open space that makes the streets of the centre stand out more clearly.
The former explosives plant takes up a large area of its own, with internal roads and buildings set apart from the residential streets. The town grew up around it.
Blocks from the twentieth century form neat rectangles and repeated shapes. They give the centre a regular, planned look next to the looser streets of single-family houses.

Koteā ko Pionki
For anyone who grew up in Pionki, the town is tied up with the forest around it. A map that shows both can bring back summer walks, the plant where relatives worked, and the quiet roads out of town.
Add your own title, subtitle and date, and choose one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand and Paper suit the forest setting particularly well.
