Te mapa
Plano Piloto is the original core of Brasília, and few places have a clearer shape from above. Urban planner Lúcio Costa drew it as two crossing axes. The monumental axis runs east to west, and the curved residential axis sweeps north to south. Together they form an outline often compared to an aircraft or a bird with its wings spread.
Government buildings line the monumental axis, ending at the Three Powers Square, while residential superquadras sit along the wings. These are blocks of apartment buildings arranged around green space. The city was inaugurated in 1960 as Brazil's new capital, and it has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. Oscar Niemeyer designed many of its main buildings.
A Plano Piloto map poster shows the full plan in one view, including the large artificial Lake Paranoá curving around its eastern side. Few cities were designed so deliberately, all at once, as a single drawing. That is exactly why the map works as a wall print: the diagram and the city are almost the same thing.
The Eixo Monumental runs east to west, lined with ministries and public buildings. It leads to the Three Powers Square, the political heart of Brazil.
Residential superquadras line the curved Eixo Rodoviário. The repeated blocks with green spaces create a steady rhythm along both wings of the plan.
The large reservoir wraps around the east side of the plan. Its branching shoreline softens the precise geometry of the city.

Koteā ko Plano Piloto
Plano Piloto is a work of architecture as much as a place to live, and it is well known among designers, planners and anyone interested in modernism. For people from Brasília, it is simply home, with a shape recognisable from far away. On a wall it looks just as good as a drawing as it does as a map.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with Brasília, a superquadra number or a special date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Blueprint style suits a planned city particularly well. The digital files cost $9, and printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
