Poldokhtar is a town in Lorestan Province in western Iran, set in a valley of the Zagros Mountains beside the Kashkan River. On the map, the town stretches along the river, with streets packed into the available flat land, and steep, bare slopes rising close by. The river's bends give the settlement its outline.
The name means Maiden's Bridge and refers to the ruins of a historic bridge over the Kashkan, generally dated to the Sasanian period. The broken arches are among the best-known sights of the region.
