Te mapa
Puyo is the capital of Pastaza, Ecuador's largest province by area, and lies where the eastern foothills of the Andes give way to the Amazon lowlands. On the map, the city forms a compact grid. It is bounded by the curving course of the Puyo River, whose banks stay green and wooded even close to the centre.
Beyond the urban edge, the road network thins quickly. A few highways lead west toward Baños and the Andes and on toward other Amazonian towns. The rest of the frame fills with a fine tracery of streams and forest. A Puyo map poster therefore feels balanced between order and wildness, with a grid at its centre and water all around.
The city is a gateway to the Ecuadorian Amazon, and several Indigenous nationalities live in the wider province, including Kichwa, Shuar and Waorani communities. Riverside walkways and the Omaere ethnobotanical park on the edge of town show how closely the city lives with the forest, and with the steady rain that keeps it green.
The river loops past the city in tight bends, lined with trees and walking paths. It forms the strongest natural line on the poster.
The centre is laid out in regular blocks. Its clear, legible pattern stands out against the organic shapes of river and forest around it.
Countless small streams cut through the surrounding land. They fill the edges of the map with delicate branching lines typical of the upper Amazon basin.

Koteā ko Puyo
Travellers who began a jungle trip in Puyo, volunteers, researchers and families from Pastaza all have reasons to keep this map. It captures the point where the Andes end and the Amazon begins, in a quiet, graphic form.
Personalise the title and subtitle, add the date of your journey, and keep the coordinates line as a precise marker. Blueprint and Noir suit the river's curves well, while Paper and Sand feel softer. Download the files for $9 or order a print.
