Te mapa
Qal‘at Sukkar sits in the north of Dhi Qar province, on the Shatt al-Gharraf, the channel that carries water from the Tigris south toward Nasiriyah. From above, the town follows the line of the river, with its streets clustered close to the banks and a web of smaller irrigation canals reaching out into the surrounding farmland.
The land here is almost perfectly flat, part of the alluvial plain between the Tigris and the Euphrates. That flatness shows on the map as long straight roads and rectangular field patterns, broken only by the curves of the Gharraf and the thin lines of ditches drawn off it. The built-up area is dense at the centre and loosens quickly toward the edges.
Towns along the Gharraf have depended on this water for centuries, and the relationship between river, canal and settlement is easy to read in black and white. A Qal‘at Sukkar map poster keeps that relationship at the centre of the frame, a simple and honest portrait of a place defined by where the water runs.
The river channel runs through the town, its gentle bends providing the strongest line on the map and anchoring the streets that gather along both banks.
Narrow canals branch away from the river into the farmland, tracing fine straight lines and right angles that turn the outskirts into a subtle geometric pattern.
The core of the town is a close-knit mesh of short streets and lanes, a darker patch on the poster that contrasts with the open fields around it.

For families from Dhi Qar living elsewhere, or for anyone who grew up along the Gharraf, this map holds the outline of home in a form simple enough to hang in any room. The river gives it a clear, recognisable shape that needs no explanation.
The title and subtitle can carry the town's name in the spelling you prefer, alongside a date or a dedication, and the coordinates line can be edited too. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files or order a print.
