Ramat HaSharon lies just north of Tel Aviv, between the city and Herzliya, at the southern end of the Sharon plain. On the map, it looks distinctly suburban: mostly low-density streets, many of them curved or ending in cul-de-sacs, with gardens and open spaces between the houses. Major highways run along its edges.
The town began as a farming community in the 1920s, and it has kept a greener, quieter character than its neighbours. It is home to the Israel Tennis Centre's main site and is often associated with its residential calm, despite being only minutes from central Tel Aviv.
