Te mapa
Rathlin Island lies off the north coast of County Antrim, a short ferry ride from Ballycastle, and is the most northerly inhabited point of Northern Ireland. From above it is a distinctive reversed L. One arm runs east to west, and the other runs south toward the mainland. Cliffs of white chalk and dark basalt edge much of the coast, and inland are open grass and low hills.
The harbour and the small village at Church Bay sit in the crook of the L, facing south. This is where the ferry lands and where most of the island's few roads begin. From there, lanes lead out to three lighthouses at the ends of the island. One of them, the West Light, is built into the cliff face with its light at the bottom.
The island is known for large seabird colonies, especially puffins in summer. A legend places Robert the Bruce in a cave here, watching a spider. In the 1890s it was also the site of early radio tests linked to Marconi's company. A Rathlin Island map poster holds all of this in one small, clear shape.
The island's harbour and village sit in the inner angle of the L, facing Ballycastle across the sound, with a small cluster of lanes around the shore.
A lighthouse set into the western cliffs, known for having its light near the base of the tower. The stacks nearby hold large seabird colonies in summer.
The two long arms of the island give it a clear, memorable outline. Each ends in a headland with its own lighthouse.

Koteā ko Rathlin Island
Visitors who crossed from Ballycastle to see the puffins, and families with Rathlin roots, often want to keep this distinctive outline close. The L shape is easy to recognise and makes a strong, simple print for a hallway or a study.
