Te mapa
Reinach lies just south of Basel in the canton of Basel-Landschaft, on the flat floor of the Birs valley. From above, the town stretches north to south, with the Birs River along its eastern side and gentle hills rising to the west. The streets form a mix of older village lanes and orderly postwar residential blocks.
Although it is one of the larger municipalities in its canton, Reinach feels closely connected to Basel. A tram line runs through it into the city, and the town functions partly as a residential base for people working there, while keeping its own centre, schools and green spaces along the river.
A Reinach map poster shows a place organised by the valley. The river, the tram line and the main roads all run roughly in parallel, giving the map a gentle directional rhythm. The wooded slopes and fields to the sides contrast with the continuous urban area stretching north toward Basel.
The river runs along the valley's eastern side, its line accompanied by green strips and paths that frame the town's edge.
The tram line connecting Reinach to Basel cuts through town, a long straight axis that ties the suburb to the city centre.
Streets and main roads follow the north-south course of the Birs valley, giving the map a clear, elongated shape between low hills.
