Te mapa
Robertsganj is the administrative headquarters of Sonbhadra district, in the far southeast of Uttar Pradesh. Sonbhadra is often noted as the only district in India that borders four other states: Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar. From above, the town is a compact centre with roads leaving in several directions, including north toward Mirzapur and Varanasi.
The district takes its name from the Son River, which flows to the south of the town, and its landscape is shaped by the Kaimur and Vindhyan ranges. Unlike the flat Gangetic plain further north, the land here is broken by ridges, forests and reservoirs. The area is known for its thermal power stations and mineral resources.
A Robertsganj map poster shows a town between plain and plateau. The streets of the centre are tightly packed, while a wider frame reveals roads bending around hills and running through open country. In black and white, the relief implied by the road pattern gives the image unusual depth for a town of its size.
Robertsganj's compact core of lanes and markets forms the dense heart of the map, the point where the district's main roads come together.
Roads toward Mirzapur and Varanasi lead north out of town, strong lines that link Sonbhadra to the Gangetic plain.
Around the town, the hills and forests of the Kaimur region bend the roads and leave broad open areas that give a wider frame its structure.
