Te mapa
Romford is the main town of the London Borough of Havering, on the eastern edge of Greater London. From above, its centre is enclosed by a tight inner ring road, and the triangular Market Place sits in the middle, framed by older streets and newer shopping centres. Beyond the ring, suburban roads and semi-detached housing extend in every direction.
Romford has held a market since the thirteenth century, and the market is still held in the town centre. The Great Eastern main line passes through Romford station, which is now served by the Elizabeth line, and the A12 runs to the north. The small River Rom, which gave the town its name, flows through the area in a narrow corridor.
A Romford map poster makes the ring road the centrepiece. It draws a clear loop around the old town, with the Market Place and the station inside it. Around it, the dense suburban street pattern and the long railway line give the town both a clear focus and a sense of how it fits into London.
A continuous loop of dual carriageway encloses the town centre, the most striking shape on the map and a clear boundary for the old town.
The long, triangular market square sits in the middle of the centre. It has been used as a market for centuries and still hosts stalls today.
The Great Eastern main line runs straight through the town and the station, connecting Romford with central London and Essex.
