Rongai is a town in Nakuru County, Kenya, in the Rift Valley northwest of Nakuru city. It should not be confused with Ongata Rongai near Nairobi. This Rongai sits in a farming area of the highlands and is the local centre for the surrounding farms, trading plots and settlements.
On a map, the town is compact. A handful of streets and a small commercial core gather along the main road, and the pattern soon opens into large farm parcels, rural tracks and scattered homesteads. The image comes from the contrast between the small built centre and the wide farmland around it, with the road as its spine.
