Roseto degli Abruzzi stretches along the Adriatic coast in the province of Teramo. On the map it is mostly a long strip: a straight shoreline with a wide beach, a railway and main road running parallel to it, and a regular grid of streets between them. The town is much longer than it is wide, pressed between the sea and the rising hills.
Inland, on a hilltop, is Montepagano, the historic village the modern town grew from as people moved down to the coast.
