Saco Map Poster & Print

Saco is in York County, southern Maine, on the north-east bank of the Saco River, facing its twin city, Biddeford. The two grew up around the river's falls, where water power drove textile mills in the nineteenth century. From above, the river, its islands and the bridges between the cities form the core of the map.

Downstream, the city reaches the coast. The river meets the sea at Camp Ellis, where a long breakwater extends out into the water, and Ferry Beach and other sandy stretches line the shore. Between the downtown and the ocean, suburban streets and wooded land spread out in a looser pattern.

A Saco map poster connects those parts: the compact downtown at the falls, the long course of the river and the Atlantic coastline. The river leads the eye from the old mill district to the ocean, giving the composition a natural sense of direction.

He mapa ʻe maʻuhiga

Saco is home to families who have lived by the river for generations, and a summer place for many others who return to its beaches. A map from the falls to the sea holds both kinds of attachment.

Add a title, a subtitle and a date, perhaps the summer you first came, and edit the coordinates. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand suits the coastline well.
