Te mapa
Safed, known in Hebrew as Tzfat, crowns a mountain in the Upper Galilee at around 900 meters, one of the highest cities in Israel. Its map follows the hill: the Old City wraps around the summit in rings of narrow lanes and stairways, with roads descending in curves on every side. Views reach Mount Meron to the west and the Sea of Galilee to the southeast.
In the sixteenth century Safed became a leading center of Jewish mysticism, home to scholars including Isaac Luria and Joseph Karo, and it is counted among the four holy cities of Judaism along with Jerusalem, Hebron and Tiberias. Historic synagogues still stand in the old quarter, and the nearby Artists' Colony fills old stone houses with galleries and studios.
At the top of the hill, a park surrounds the remains of the medieval fortress known as the Citadel, from which the rest of the city falls away. A Safed map poster shows this concentric form clearly: a green summit, a tight old town, and newer neighborhoods spread across the surrounding ridges, linked by winding roads.
The top of the hill is a park around the remains of the old fortress, a green circle at the center of the map from which streets spiral outward and downhill.
Narrow alleys and stone stairways cling to the slopes below the summit, forming the densest, most intricate section of the plan, home to historic synagogues and galleries.
Newer districts spread along surrounding ridges and spurs, separated by steep valleys, so the city reads as a series of fingers reaching out from the central hill.

Koteā ko Safed
Safed draws pilgrims, students of Kabbalah, artists and summer visitors seeking cooler mountain air. A map of the city is a meaningful keepsake for anyone who has studied, prayed or painted there, or who carries family memories of the Galilee.
Title the poster Safed, Tzfat or any name you prefer, add a subtitle with a date, and edit the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, range from high contrast to warm tones that echo Galilee stone.
