Te mapa
Saint Croix is the largest of the U.S. Virgin Islands. On a map it is a long, narrow shape stretched east to west across the Caribbean. Hills rise along the northern side, and the south and west flatten into land that was once farmed as plantations. The roads follow this terrain: they wind along the northern ridges and run straighter across the plains toward the airport and the southern coast.
Two towns anchor the island. Christiansted lies on the north shore behind a harbour sheltered by a reef. Its compact streets were laid out while the island was a Danish colony. Frederiksted sits on the western tip, its blocks arranged along a straight waterfront with a long pier. Danish rule ended in 1917, when the islands were sold to the United States, but both street plans date from the earlier period.
Buck Island appears as a small shape off the northeast coast and is protected as a national monument for its reef. At the far eastern end, Point Udall is often cited as the easternmost point of United States territory. A Saint Croix map poster fits the whole island into one frame. The coastline does most of the drawing, and the inland roads add a fine web of lines between the two towns.
The north-shore town faces a sheltered harbour behind a line of reef. Its compact streets and waterfront blocks form the densest group of lines anywhere on the island.
At the western tip, a straight shoreline and a long pier shape the town. Its streets run in an orderly pattern back from the water toward the flatter land inland.
The island narrows to a thin eastern point around Point Udall. Here the road network thins to a single route, and the coastline carries almost the whole drawing.

Koteā ko Saint Croix
People who have lived on Saint Croix, married there or sailed its bays know its outline at a glance. In black and white the coastline becomes the main subject, and the two towns show up as small, dense clusters at the edges of a long island.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a family name, a wedding date or a favourite beach. Then pick one of five styles to suit the room: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
