Te mapa
Samal, officially the Island Garden City of Samal, lies in the Davao Gulf opposite Davao City. It covers Samal Island and several smaller islands, separated from the Mindanao mainland by a narrow channel. For many people in Davao, Samal is the nearest escape to the beach, reached by a short ferry crossing.
From above, the city has the outline of an island rather than a town. Its settlements are spread along the coast, linked by a road that circles much of the shoreline. Inland, the terrain rises and is covered with plantations and forest, with only scattered roads and villages. The western shore facing Davao is lined with resorts and small landings.
A Samal map poster shows an island in the gulf. Its irregular coastline, fringed with coves and headlands, defines the composition, the narrow strait to the mainland forms a clean band of water, and small villages and roads sit along the shore. It is a very different image from a city grid, closer to a nautical chart than to a street plan.
A thin channel separates Samal from Davao City. On the map it forms a clean line of water between the island and the mainland.
A road follows much of the island's shoreline, linking beaches, villages and landings in a long loop around the coast.
The island's upland interior is covered with plantations and forest, leaving a large quiet area at the centre of the map.

For Davao families, holiday regulars and anyone who remembers the ferry crossing, the island's outline is instantly recognisable. A map of Samal captures weekends by the sea and the view across the gulf.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a wedding date or holiday year. Choose from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. HD files cost $9, and prints are available with an optional frame.
