Te mapa
San Diego's shape is set by water. The bay curves in a long crescent from downtown south toward the Mexican border, sheltered by Coronado and the narrow Silver Strand. To the west, Point Loma rises as a slender ridge, and to the north, Mission Bay spreads as a shallow lagoon broken into coves and islands, all of it facing the open Pacific.
Inland, the city sits on a series of mesas divided by steep canyons, which show on a map as branching fingers of open space running between neighbourhoods. The street grid breaks and reconnects around them. Mission Valley carries the San Diego River and a freeway corridor west to the sea, and it was here in 1769 that the first of California's Spanish missions was founded.
Downtown is a tight grid beside the bay, including the historic Gaslamp Quarter, while Balboa Park covers a large, irregular area just to the north with museums, gardens and the San Diego Zoo. The Coronado Bridge makes a sweeping arc across the water. A San Diego map poster captures this mix of ocean, bay, canyons and grids in a single frame.

A large, irregularly shaped park just north of downtown, containing the San Diego Zoo, museums and gardens, laced with paths and bordered by canyons.
A shallow lagoon of coves, islands and beaches north of Point Loma, its shoreline creating a complex, almost puzzle-like pattern next to the ocean.

Koteā ko San Diego
San Diego is a place many people move to, study in or visit for the coastline and the climate, and a map of it recalls a specific neighbourhood or beach. The bay and peninsulas give the print an unusually rich, recognisable outline.
Personalise the title, add a date or a neighbourhood to the subtitle, and set the coordinates to your favourite spot. Blueprint suits the harbour and naval history, and Sand suits the coast, though any of the five styles works.
