Te mapa
São Gonçalo do Amarante lies just west of Natal, the capital of Rio Grande do Norte, and forms part of its metropolitan area. From above, it is a mix of neighbourhoods growing toward the city, older centres along the Potengi River valley and wide tracts of rural land farther inland, where the street network gives way to scattered roads.
Since 2014 the municipality has been home to Natal's main airport, Governador Aluízio Alves International, whose long runway is one of the most prominent shapes on the map. Its opening brought new roads and access routes, and development has gradually followed them, while the town centre keeps a more traditional, compact street pattern.
A São Gonçalo do Amarante map poster captures a place in transition, with village-scale streets, new suburban grids and the clean geometry of the airport set against open land. It suits residents, people moving to Greater Natal and anyone whose travels in the northeast began or ended on that runway.
The international airport serving Natal sits within the municipality, and its long straight runway and taxiways form an unmistakable geometric shape on the poster.
The Potengi River and its tributaries run through the area toward Natal and the sea, giving the map natural curves among the roads and neighbourhoods.
Toward Natal, the street network thickens into continuous neighbourhoods, while farther out it thins into rural roads and scattered settlements across open land.
