Te mapa
São Tomé stands on the northeast coast of the island of the same name, around the gentle curve of Ana Chaves Bay in the Gulf of Guinea. It is one of the smallest capitals in Africa, and its map is correspondingly intimate: a waterfront road following the bay, a compact grid of streets behind it, and scattered neighbourhoods fading into green countryside.
The old centre keeps its Portuguese colonial layout, with short blocks, squares and a cathedral set just back from the sea. At one end of the bay, the Fort of São Sebastião stands on a small point. It was built in the sixteenth century and now houses the national museum. Inland, the land rises toward the forested volcanic interior, and roads thin out quickly.
The islands were uninhabited when Portuguese navigators arrived in the fifteenth century. São Tomé later became a centre of the sugar and then cocoa trade, and the country gained independence in 1975. A São Tomé map poster frames this modest capital along its bay, with a clean line of coast and a small network of streets set against the open space of the island.

A small sixteenth-century fortress on a point at the edge of the bay, now home to the national museum and a distinct shape on the map.
Behind the waterfront, short straight streets form a compact grid around the cathedral and squares. This is the densest and most regular part of the city.

Koteā ko São Tomé
São Tomé is a place people tend to reach on purpose and remember clearly: the slow curve of the bay, the small centre, the forest beyond. A map poster keeps that impression in a simple, quiet form that suits almost any room.
Personalise the title and subtitle with names, dates or a short phrase, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from five styles and download six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF for $9, or order a printed poster.
