Te mapa
Sasebo lies on a sheltered inlet in northwestern Kyushu. The deep harbour is enclosed by steep hills, and the city fills the narrow flat land along the shore and in the valleys that run inland. Beyond the harbour mouth, the coast breaks into the Kujūkushima, a large cluster of small islands scattered across the sea.
The harbour's depth and shelter made Sasebo an important naval port from the late nineteenth century. It remains one today, home to both the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and a US Navy base. Not far to the south, the Huis Ten Bosch theme park recreates a Dutch town beside Ōmura Bay.
A Sasebo map poster shows a city where land and water interlock. The harbour's inlets cut into the centre, hills break the streets into narrow valleys, and islands scatter towards the edge of the frame. Rendered in black and white, the coastline alone makes a rich, almost lace-like pattern.
The deep, sheltered inlet reaches into the heart of the city. It has made Sasebo a naval port for more than a century.
West of the city, the coast breaks into many small islands. They form one of the most intricate coastlines in Japan.
Steep hills rise behind the shore. Streets squeeze into the valleys between them, giving the city a branching shape.

Koteā ko Sasebo
Sasebo is meaningful to anyone who has lived near its harbour, served at its bases or sailed among its islands. The complex coastline makes it one of the more striking maps in the collection.
You can set a title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. HD files are $9 for six sizes, including A3 and A2. Printed posters with an optional wooden frame are also available.
