Scaggsville is an unincorporated community in southern Howard County, Maryland, roughly between Baltimore and Washington. On a map it has no traditional centre. It appears instead as a pattern of suburban streets, curving roads and cul-de-sacs organised around a few main routes, with wooded strips and stream valleys running between the neighbourhoods.
Route 216 and US 29 are the main lines through the area, with Interstate 95 not far to the east. To the south the land drops to the Patuxent River, where the Rocky Gorge Reservoir forms a long, narrow body of water along the county border, edged by forest.
