Te mapa
Sete Lagoas, whose name means seven lagoons, lies in Minas Gerais, north of Belo Horizonte. The lagoons that gave it its name are scattered throughout the city, and on the map they appear as smooth, rounded shapes among the streets. The largest and best known, Lagoa Paulino, is right in the centre and is surrounded by a waterside promenade.
The streets around the centre form a fairly regular grid, and it spreads outward toward newer neighbourhoods. The other lagoons appear in various districts, creating open spaces and helping to define the layout of the city. To the west, the Serra de Santa Helena rises above the city and forms a green edge with a clear viewpoint.
The surrounding region is known for its limestone caves, including the Rei do Mato cave near the city. A Sete Lagoas map poster shows the city's unusual structure, with water in the middle of the city, a grid that adapts to it and hills on the horizon, all clearly visible in black and white.
The main lagoon lies in the city centre and is surrounded by a waterside walk, forming a smooth open shape in the middle of the grid.
Several other lagoons appear in different districts, breaking up the street pattern and giving the city its name and distinctive character.
The hills west of the city form a green edge on the map, with winding roads leading up to viewpoints above the streets.
