Te mapa
Shuangyashan lies in the east of Heilongjiang Province, in China's far northeast. The city's name refers to a pair of hills said to resemble two ducks, a feature that has given the place its identity. It developed mainly as a coal-mining centre, and the industry has shaped both its economy and the layout of its districts.
The urban area is spread across a valley surrounded by low hills, with separate mining districts connected to the central city by roads and railway lines. On a map this creates a more dispersed pattern than in many Chinese cities of similar size, with clusters of streets separated by open land. To the north and east, the land opens toward the broad plains of the region.
A Shuangyashan map poster captures a city built around work and landscape. The main grid is compact and regular, while outer districts appear as separate islands of development linked by long roads. The open ground between them gives the composition space to breathe and reflects the scale of the northeastern countryside.
The main part of the city is laid out in a compact, regular grid that forms the most detailed and densest area on the map.
Outlying clusters developed around coal mines appear as separate areas of streets, connected to the centre by roads and rail.
Low hills around the valley, including the two that give the city its name, form open spaces that frame the built-up area.
