Te mapa
Shwebo lies in the Sagaing Region of upper Myanmar, on the flat, dry plain northwest of Mandalay. It was the home of Alaungpaya, who founded the Konbaung dynasty in the eighteenth century and made the town his first royal capital. From above, the most striking feature is the rectangular outline of the old moat, which still frames the historic centre.
Inside and around the moat, the streets follow a largely regular grid, reflecting the planned layout of a royal city. The palace site sits near the centre, and the surrounding plain is flat and extensively farmed, with irrigation canals and rice fields reaching out in all directions. Roads and a railway line lead south towards Mandalay and Sagaing.
A Shwebo map poster brings out the clarity of a planned historic city. The moat forms a strong geometric frame, the grid adds order, and the surrounding farmland provides texture. It is one of those maps where history is written directly into the shape of the town.

The flat land around Shwebo is crossed by irrigation canals and rice fields, forming a fine, straight-lined pattern at the edges of the map.
