Te mapa
Si Racha stretches along the eastern shore of the Gulf of Thailand in Chon Buri Province, and its map is defined by the coastline. The town's streets run parallel to the shore, and long piers extend out into the shallow water. Just offshore, the small island of Ko Loi is joined to the mainland by a causeway, creating a distinctive shape.
The town is widely known as the namesake of Sriracha, the chilli sauce said to have originated here. Its district also includes part of Laem Chabang, one of Thailand's main deep-sea ports, whose reclaimed basins and container yards appear as large geometric forms on the coast. Ferries run from Si Racha to the island of Ko Si Chang.
A Si Racha map poster contrasts the fine grain of the old waterfront with the bold outlines of the port and industrial estates inland. The coast gives the composition a strong edge, and the causeway to Ko Loi is a small detail that draws the eye.
A causeway links the town to the small island of Ko Loi, forming a thin line across the water that is one of the most recognisable features on the map.
Piers and jetties extend from the shore into the Gulf, giving the coastline a comb-like texture along the older part of town.
Part of Laem Chabang port lies within the district, and its basins and container terminals form large, geometric shapes along the coast.
