Te mapa
Suan Luang is a district in the eastern part of Bangkok, and its map looks very different from the old riverside core of the city. It has no dense tangle of streets around the Chao Phraya. Instead the pattern is built from a few long main roads, with narrow side lanes, or sois, branching off at intervals like the teeth of a comb.
Housing estates, schools, markets and rows of shophouses sit between those lanes, and the space fills with small, closely spaced streets that often end in dead ends. Canals, or khlongs, also cross the district. They are reminders of the time when this was farmland on the city's edge and water was the main way to travel.
A Suan Luang map poster captures that suburban Bangkok rhythm: the comb-like sois, the occasional canal cutting across, and the straight lines of the main roads. The drawing is full of detail and has no single focal point, which suits people who want a map of everyday life rather than a postcard view.
Narrow sois branch off the main roads at regular intervals and run deep into the blocks, creating the comb-shaped texture typical of eastern Bangkok.
Canals cross the district between the streets. These thin lines of water are older than most of the roads and still divide neighbourhoods on the map.
Planned housing estates appear as tight, self-contained patterns of short streets and loops, set inside the larger grid of main roads.

Koteā ko Suan Luang
Suan Luang is where many people in Bangkok actually live: close to work, schools and markets, far from the tourist centre. A map of the district is a personal choice, a record of the soi you came home to and the roads you knew by heart.
You can title the poster Suan Luang or name your own neighbourhood, add a subtitle and a date, and choose among five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Get the HD download for $9, or a printed poster shipped from print partners in more than 30 countries.
