Te mapa
Sibolga faces the Indian Ocean from the west coast of North Sumatra, on the shore of Tapian Nauli Bay. The land behind it rises steeply almost immediately. On a map the town is a thin ribbon of streets squeezed between the water and the hills, several blocks deep in places and just a single road wide in others.
The bay shapes everything. Its curving shoreline sets the line of the main streets, and small islands lie offshore in the sheltered water. A Sibolga map poster shows this close relationship, with the coast along one side, the steep ground along the other, and a dense strip of town between them that follows each curve of the shore.
Sibolga has long been a fishing and trading port, and harbours and landing points line the waterfront. Roads climb out of town into the hills toward the inland highlands of North Sumatra. From above, the town looks as though it has made the most of a narrow ledge, pushing right up to the shoreline because the terrain gives it no room to spread inland.
The wide, sheltered bay curves in front of the town. Its calm water and scattered islands give the map a large, open area of white.
The built-up area stretches along the shore in a thin band. Streets run parallel to the water because the hills leave little space behind them.
A few winding roads leave the coast and climb steeply inland. Their bends contrast with the straighter streets of the waterfront.

Koteā ko Sibolga
Sibolga's shape is striking: a town pressed between mountain and sea. For people from the west coast of Sumatra, or anyone who arrived here by boat, it makes a meaningful and unusual poster.
Change the title, add a subtitle such as a family name or a date, and edit the coordinates line. Noir makes the bay stand out dramatically, while Blueprint gives it the look of a nautical chart.
